"Goomba Got Back" is a song by American YouTuber and member of the Game Theorists YouTube channel, Gaijin Goombah. It is parody of "Baby Got Back" by Sir Mix-a-Lot and serves a response to critics of the design of Akiterra Goombah, Gaijin Goombah's wife.

The music was produced by The Living Tombstone and the art in the music video was produced by TheGeckoNinja and Serena (Gabby) Midori.

History

On October 29, 2011, Michael Sundman proposed to his girlfriend Sarah, who accepted and the two got married on May 1, 2013.

In early 2012, Sundman created a YouTube channel under the name GaijinGoomba, where he began a series called Game Exchange, a show that attempted to teach culture and look for cultural influences and references in gaming. In the show, Sundman played the character Gaijin Goombah, a Goombo with a short beard wearing glasses, traditional Japanese robes, and sandals. He also has his sword which he calls the Pixel Cutter usually strapped to his back.

Sarah also made appearances on the GaijinGoomba channel, where she played her own character, Akiterra Goombah, a pink Goombo with blonde hair.

On July 5, 2012, Game Exchange began airing on Matthew Patrick's YouTube channel alongside the GaijinGoomba channel, bringing more exposure and attention to the show and Gaijin and Akiterra.

On July 23, 2013, Gaijin Goombah uploaded a video to his channel titled "Big Ol' Game Exchange Update! New Shows, New Content!", where he announced, among other things, that the characters of him and his wife would be using updated designs. Many people were critical of Akiterra's new design because it had large and noticeably exposed breasts and many felt that it was an abnormal or even disgusting choice to attempt to sexualize a Goombo. Later that day, Gaijin Goombah responded to this criticism in a video titled "Defending T&A - Goombah's Real Talk". In this video, he expressed his frustration with excessive violence in media being acceptable in American culture while excessive sexualization in media is not.

"Goomba Got Back" was uploaded to GaijinGoomba YouTube channel on January 12, 2014 and was met with similar backlash and criticism. Eventually, the video was removed from the channel, but re-uploads of it still exist.
