  • Hey Dooki51,

    Just wanted to let you know that you don't really need to add the entire YouTube link in infoboxes. You can just put the video ID and it still works.

  • Nice additions! Out of curiosity, what's the source you used to get the names of the April 1 rips?

  • Hi Dooki51,

    I noticed that in the page for the rip "Megalovania - Undertale", you wrote that this rip is likely a reference to "Why I Gave the Pope Undertale". I don't think this is the case. This particular track appeared in a livestream on the SiivaGunner channel titled "Let's Play: 7 Grand Dad - Episode 2 " on April 27, 2016, a month before MatPat visited Pope Francis. I think it would be best to change the page to reflect that.

  • Hi Dooki (if I can call you that),

    I noticed that you were having some trouble with the images and the Track template. If you don't mind, could you tell me what exactly you're having trouble with?

    If it's a case of the code not working as it should, I definitely want to know so I can resolve the problem. If it's a case of being unfamiliar with the systems, I'd be happy to help you.

      Hey, Ironwrestle. The trouble I seem to be having is that 1) The default template for a Rip page seems to not give a place to put an image for a rip. I'd have to replace the template with the one that lets you upload an image for that space, but I'm having a problem with it where once I add an image to the template, I can't edit any other information because the places for them disappear. I don't know whether that was just one time because it only happened to me in the first and only time that I replaced the template.

      2) The Track template for editing lists seems to have a lot of problems in that it loads incredibly slowly to the point of my browser not responding and even crashing at times. It's not an internet problem from my end and I've tested it with both Google Chrome and Firefox. Even when I can get it to load (after waiting for it to work, and it only works for me in Firefox), I can't seem to be able to add items to the list, but that's probably because I haven't been able to use it very much. I can't really edit anything that uses the Track template, basically.

    • First, I have to ask if you're using the Source editor. If you aren't you should go to your account Preferences (go to your picture and click "My Preferences") and choose the Source editor under "Editing". The source editor isn't as pretty as the VisualEditor, but advanced editing requires it.

      Second, how did you "replace" the template? The way the template is supposed to be used is either by copy/pasting the following code onto a new page:

      {{Rip
      |image=
      |link=
      |playlist=
      |playlist id=
      |upload=
      |length=
      |author=

      |music=
      |composer=
      |platform=
      |catchphrase=
      }}

      OR by using the box on the Main page OR clicking the link when editing a new page to preload Template:Rip form. Preloading will show the following code in Source edit mode:

      (Switch to source mode to edit, please remove this after reading.){{clear}}<!-- This template is only for high quality rips, NOT for lore videos, events, memes, or characters.
      Please remove all comments like this after reading them.

      -->{{Rip
      |title= <!--If the title is too long, you may shorten it and place it here.-->
      |image= <!--Place an image from the rip's playlist. Upload it if one isn't on the wiki.-->

      |link= <!--A full YouTube video URL or the video ID-->
      |playlist= <!--The name of the playlist-->
      |playlist id= <!--A full YouTube playlist URL or the playlist ID -->
      |upload= <!--The upload date on YouTube.-->
      |length= <!--The video's length XX:XX-->
      |author= <!--If known, the actual "rippers" who made the rip, not the song's composers-->

      |album= <!--If applicable, the album(s) that the rip was released on-->
      |album link= <!--The full URL of the Bandcamp album -->
      |track= <!--A full link to the track on Bandcamp or Soundcloud-->

      <!--For the YouTube video description.-->
      |music= <!--Comes after "Music:"-->
      |composer=<!--Comes after "Composer:"-->
      |platform= <!--Comes after "Platform"-->
      |catchphrase= <!--The catchphrase in the description.-->
      }}
      (Replace this with the rip's title in '''BOLD''' + a short description)
      == Jokes ==
      <!--Insert the joke(s) of the rip here as a paragraph.-->
      <!--Don't forget to add categories for jokes. (e.g. [[Category:Mashups]] or [[Category:Rips featuring Grand Dad]])-->

      To add an image, you would type the image's name next to the code that reads "image=", like so:

      {{Rip
      |title=Example
      |image=Example.jpg
      <!--(the rest of the code is after this)-->

      2) I don't know why the Track template loads so slowly for you, but I can tell you that you cannot use the template without Source edit mode. To use the template, please look at the following example:

      {|class="article-table"
      {{Track}}
      {{Track|1|Title 1|Ripper 1|0:01}}
      {{Track|2|Title 2|Ripper 2|0:02}}
      {{Track|3|Title 3|Ripper 3|0:03}}
      |}

      Normally you start out with this code:

      {|class="article-table"
      {{Track}}
      |}

      ...and add new rows using the following pattern: {{Track|<Number>|<Title>|<Ripper>|<Length>}}, where "<Number>" is replaced by the track's number, "<Title>" is replaced by the track's title, "<Ripper>" is replaced by the ripper who created the track, and "<Length>" is the length of the rip.

      On SOME pages, we want to add a Joke section, so we add the following at the end of the Track template:

      ||<JOKE>

      So for example:

      {|class="article-table"
      {{Track}}
      {{Track|1|Title 1|Ripper 1|0:01}}||JOKE 1
      {{Track|2|Title 2|Ripper 2|0:02}}||JOKE 2
      {{Track|3|Title 3|Ripper 3|0:03}}||JOKE 3
      |}

      No. Title Ripper(s) Length
      1. "Title 1" Ripper 1 0:01JOKE 1
      2. "Title 2" Ripper 2 0:02JOKE 2
      3. "Title 3" Ripper 3 0:03JOKE 3

      All of this information is available at Template:Rip/doc (for the rip template) and Template:Track/doc (for the Track template). These pages serve as documentation to help you use them, and most templates have these documentation pages as well.

      Hopefully this helps. ~ironwestie (talk to me)(contribs) 05:33, July 2, 2017 (UTC)
