Space Jam is a 1996 movie starring professional basketball player Michael Jordan and the main cast of the Looney Tunes franchise that combines live-action and animation as they face off against the extraterrestrial "Monstars" in a game of basketball in order to remain on Earth. The film became a cult hit from its ridiculous premise and is still fondly remembered today. An unofficial game loosely based on Space Jam, Barkley, Shut Up and Jam: Gaiden, was released in 2008 featuring Charles Barkley.

While making mashups of other songs with the main theme of Space Jam (usually titled after Barkley as a nod to Shut Up and Jam: Gaiden) is already a meme, on the SiIvaGunner channel, rips that are mashups with Space Jam are intentionally poorly-mashed, as Space Jam mashups are treated as a cliché by the SiIvaGunner crew. Additionally, on most Space Jam related rips, the image displayed in the video will have Charles Barkley's head crudely pasted on any visible characters and words replaced with Space Jam-relevant words (for example, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure would become BARKLEY'S Bizarre SLAMventure). Otherwise, it only appears in mashups of songs not in common time (4/4), as noted in the "Main Theme - Superman 64" rip.
